Previously I’ve worked with ideas of decay and the different type of decays that exist, physical, biological and I’ve found mental decay to be one of the more prevalent issues that affect the general public. With the advent consumerism came materialism, there being a constant need to seek possessions as a means of finding comfort instead of looking internally to find tranquillity. To be at tune with your desires and needs results in a more grounded outlook on life as regardless of what happens your sense of self will remain. I’ve experimented with a vast array of mediums during this foundation which has led me to understand where my interests lie. I want to use sculpture and film which I have spent more care in developing throughout my time here. They have a certain synergy that works well when wanted to present an idea. I want to experiment more with sound as I feel it is greatly important part of video work which I regularly seem to neglect. However I’m also open to it leading into different mediums and progressing beyond the initial thoughts of what I want the aesthetics to be. Depending on how the research develops will determine how the result will be presented as the focus is on the ideas.
